The VU Kaunas Faculty students of Economics and Management and International Business Management developed innovative learning skills at a summer camp in Romania

summer camp in RomaniaOn 26 June – 1 July the Bachelor students of Economics and Management and Master students of International Business Management (in English) Tadas Gatautis, Vaiva Ramanauskaitė, Ugnė Šimonėlytė, Iriowen Christopher ir Yaa Sarpomaa Benny Nyarko, together with Assist. Prof. Dr Ilona Kiaušiene and Assist. Prof. Dr Ingrida Šarkiūnaite took part in a summer camp organised by the Politehnica University of Bucharest (Romania).

With a rapidly changing environment, sustainability challenges and digitalisation processes that require constant attention to innovation and the development of up-to-date learning skills, the camp participants discussed innovation, the digital workplace, Business 4.0 trends and exchanged best practice.

We asked the students to share their impressions about the event. One of the Bachelor students, Vaiva Ramanauskaitė, confidently stated that the trip to Romania was both memorable and rewarding: “During the lectures we were able to learn about the skills and knowledge necessary to create and be part of an innovative and digitised future. We had the opportunity to try out virtual reality technologies, look at the latest products that have not yet been launched on the market <...> Not only did we gain knowledge useful for building our own business and developing our skills in the digital world, but we also had some free time to enjoy ourselves.”

Master student Iriowen Christopher said she was happy to have gained knowledge in Business 4.0 trends, artificial intelligence and the digital world. Iriowen highlighted that the presentations on marketing by the lecturers from Slovenia were thought-provoking. Yaa Sarpomaa Benny Nyarko, a student of the International Business Management (in English) programme as well, agreed that the participants we able to learn new insights and competences. According to the student, the summer camp helped her see the world from a different perspective and understand the limitless possibilities of technology. In Yaa Sarpomaa’s view, the practical part of the camp workshop reiterated the essence of sharing knowledge and working in a team to achieve a common goal: “I have gained new knowledge and competences and I am glad to have been part of this rich experience <...> Last but not least, I would like to praise the organisers for a job well done”.

*The summer camp was organised within the framework of the project Transnational cooperation initiative fostering the development of forward-thinking skills of students, teachers and workforce in sustainability-relevant sectors posed by Business 4.0 trends through innovation in Business & Engineering education and training, coordinated by the Politehnica University of Bucharest (Romania) and implemented together with partners from Italy, Slovenia, Lithuania and Greece.
