Sharing research methods in Applied Linguistics: the Arqus student co-designed project “AL4ALL”

AL4ALL tinklalapio naujienomsFrom November to December 2023, the Arqus project “AL4ALL: Applied Linguistics for ALL” organised 12 online seminars on current research methods in Applied Linguistics. 12 presenters took part in the seminar series and presented their research: 10 Ph.D. students and young researchers from various universities of the Arqus Alliance: Granada (Spain), Graz (Austria), Leipzig (Germany), Maynooth (Ireland), Minho (Portugal), Vilnius (Lithuania). Additionally, 2 PhD students from the University of Zaragoza (Spain) and the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (Germany) presented their studies.

Lithuanian Language and Culture Courses: a good start to motivate further learning

lietuviu kalbos kursas 2024The intensive Lithuanian language course for beginners (A1 level) at Vilnius University Kaunas Faculty was held on 4 January-2 February. The course included cultural lectures, tours, visits to museums, parties and lots of discoveries with students from different countries learning together.

"This winter, the course welcomed 21 participants from different countries: Kazakhstan, Sakartvelo, Taiwan, Turkey, Ukraine and even Uruguay. Three participants from Uruguay and Hungary were of Lithuanian origin," says Rita Baranauskienė, Associate Professor at the Institute of Languages, Literature and Translation Studies, who is the head of the project. According to her, all the participants of the course were happy not only to learn Lithuanian, but also to get acquainted with the Lithuanian culture.

Call for funding of scientific ideas of young scientists and other researchers in 2024-2025

Untitled design 8 copy copyVilnius University launches a call for Vilnius university young researchers’ grant. This financial instrument aims to encourage interdisciplinary collaboration among emerging scholars from at least two academic units of Vilnius University and to strengthen their abilities to implement high level research, innovation and cultural development projects. We kindly remind you the call is targeting young researchers, doctoral and master students. Bachelor students may be included in project implementation group as group members. Successful applicants will receive funding for research implementation in year 2024 – 2025.

Call is open until 18 March 2024.

Project requirements:

  • These projects should be implemented by scholars of at least two different research fields, the projects should be implemented in at least two academic units.
  • Project duration: from 22 of April 2024 until 31 December 2025.
  • The maximum amount per project is 18 000 Eur (up to 8 000 Eur for the year 2024; up to 10 000 Eur for the year 2025).

Other requirements:

  • The project manager (including group members) can participate in only one project of this call.
  • The funds of the financed project will be allocated to the Vilnius University department that submitted the application.
  • Departments cooperating in the project provide the applicants with the necessary assistance in project administration.

The applications may be divided into groups during the evaluation:

  • Young researchers who obtained their degree no earlier than 5 years before the last day of the call for applications, as well as doctoral students, master's students;
  • Young scientists who have obtained a scientific degree between 5 and 10 years before the last day of the call for applications.

Project manager and group members are employed in the department where they study or work, if a salary is planned in the project budget.

Project applications are submitted through the “Avilys” document management system of Vilnius University.

Project managers and group members who have received funding for projects can apply for funding to other external sources of funding.

Invitation to VU Kaunas Faculty Graduation Ceremony

2024.01.26 Diplomų teikimo šventė ENGOn 26 January, 11:00 EET the VU Kaunas Faculty will hold a graduation ceremony for the class of Winter 2024 at the Historical Presidential Palace of the Republic of Lithuania in Kaunas (Vilniaus Str. 33, Kaunas).

Diplomas will be awarded to Lithuanian and international graduates of the Bachelor programme Information Systems and Cyber Security, and the Master programmes Financial Technology, Sustainable Financial Economics, and Art Management.

The ceremony will also be streamed live on the VU Kaunas Faculty Youtube channel and the VU Kaunas Faculty Facebook page.
