Economics study programme develops qualified economists, who are able to grasp the essence of economic phenomena, investigate its concatenation, ground economic decisions and predict their economic results.
Aims of the programme:
- provide knowledge and practical skills for implementation of basic economic functions in fields of economic analysis, economics of social security, accounting and finance, import and export controls, economic statistics;
- provide practical skills in analysing the economic situation of the specific organizations, using the theoretical concepts for the analysis of problems or search for opportunities;
- prepare students for further studies in MA study programmes;
- bring university education to the current needs of practical life, give students the opportunity to combine work and studies.
During the first year, future economists are taught under the Common Economic Study programme, and then choose a narrower specialisation: 1) Finance, 2) Business and Public Sector Economics. During the fourth year of studies, a three-month professional practice in an institution or company is carried out. The studies are brought closer to the current needs of practical life, so that it gives opportunity to students to combine work and studies. There are permanent and extended forms of studies.
Graduation:
Program is completed by taking the state exam. Successful completion of the study programme provides BA qualification of economics.

Subjects taught
General subjects studies at university level:
Philosophy, Sociology, Psychology, Logics, Politics Theory and others. Introduction to Scientific Research introduces the fundamentals of scientific research preparation, methods, the research process itself. Foreign Language enables students to acquire communicational skills and research the desired theoretical material and read it in a foreign language.
General subjects taught in this programme:
Mathematics domain: Higher Mathematics, Financial Mathematics, Econometrics, Statistics, Economy Statistics and others.
Informatics domain:Informatics, Information Technologies, Computer Communications add to the knowledge and skill being acquired throughout the study programme.
Basic Economics domain: Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, History of Economic Thought, Service Economics, Economic Analysis.
Special subjects:
These subjects aim at deepening the field of specialisation. Finance domain: Money and Credit, Non-bank Financial Institutions, Taxing Policy, Business Accounting, Financial Enterprise Analysis, Investment Management and others. Business and public sector economics domain: Public Administration, Public Administration Policy, Urban and Regional Policy, Public Sector Accounting, Economics of Social Security and others.

Career prospects
After finishing this study programme you will be able to:
Graduates of Economics study programme are able to objectively assess a company’s economic situation, predict and justify its economic development by using mathematical methods of data analysis realised by means of information technology. Knowledge of classical and contemporary theories of economics allow to use a qualitative justification of economic decisions when methods of quantitative analysis appear to be ineffective.
Career opportunities:
Persons who have completed this study programme are in demand in most businesses. In larger companies they can successfully work in departments of economics, finance, administration etc. In smaller companies, where the nature of work is not so specific, they can successfully manage implementation of separate economic functions.

* The main criteria for forming the highest-ranking set are the following:
1. the evaluation of the school-leaving exam of the first subject;
2. the evaluation of the school-leaving exam of the second subject or its final grade;
3. the evaluation of the school-leaving exam of the third subject or its final grade;
4. the evaluation of the Lithuanian Language and Literature exam.
Note: the third subject cannot coincide with the first or second subject.
