The Young Scholars' Conference TELL ME MORE 2025, which will take place on 7 May at Vilnius University Kaunas Faculty, will bring together students and researchers to discuss the theory and practice of translation, the latest trends, and professional challenges. The conference organisers invite students and academics to actively participate by presenting their research work, engaging in discussions, and listening to other presenters. It is a great opportunity to deepen your knowledge in the field of translation, make new friends and contribute to international academic cooperation.
The TELL ME MORE Conference has already become an important academic event promoting interdisciplinary debate in the field of translation. In 2024, the Conference brought together speakers from Lithuania, Poland, Greece, Portugal and France, and featured presentations on topics such as literary translation, audiovisual translation, and artificial intelligence and the future of translation.
Participants inspire each other to act
“It was my first scientific conference, so there was a lot of nervousness. It was really hard to decide what to include in my presentation and how to engage the audience. The Best Presentation nomination was proof that I was on the right track, and now that I know that my research has been of interest to others, I am even more motivated to continue my research on Aesop's language and its translation after my undergraduate studies. Thank you to the organisers for such a great event and warm welcoming. I hope that we will cooperate in the future as well,” Viktoras Bražas, a fourth-year student at Vilnius University, Faculty of Philology, shared his impressions last year.
TELL ME MORE 2024 was also the first conference to the first year Master's student of Audiovisual Translation at VU Kaunas Faculty Gabrielė Pocevičiūtė: “This is the first time I have attended a conference, both as a co-organiser and as a speaker. The presentation was prepared in a rhythm of travelling, events, and disturbed sleep, but this did not prevent it from winning the Best Presentation nomination. I am very proud of myself for that, and I take it as a proof and a reminder that I can overcome anything if I want to. I am very grateful to be a part of the community of VU Kaunas Faculty, and I am happy to have its active and continuous support.“
Diversity of topics and opportunities for young researchers
The organisers of this year's conference invite students and researchers to present their work in various fields of audiovisual and literary translation, as well as in the specific fields of simultaneous and consecutive translation. The event will also cover topics on sign language translation, the challenges of teaching translation and accessibility in the language domain. Additionally, the participants will be able to propose an unexpected, creative surprise topic.
The proposed scope of the conference reflects the most pressing issues in contemporary translation, such as the impact of artificial intelligence on the language industry, the perspectives of the translator's profession, censorship and ethical problems of translation in the 21st century, translation in the context of globalisation and the challenges of localisation.
