About
GAISO project addresses the critical need to enhance critical infrastructure's cyber resilience against sophisticated cyber threats. The aim of this project is to improve the cyber resilience of critical infrastructure by strategically applying generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) to Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) operations to improve the efficacy and intelligence of security specialists. This innovative approach aims to leverage recent advancements in GenAI and natural language processing (NLP) to automate routine tasks, enhance cyber risk management and compliance, threat detection and response, vulnerability management, security testing, and cybersecurity awareness, thereby improving the overall efficacy of cybersecurity measures.
To achieve the aim of the project, the following objectives are identified:
- Analyze generative Artificial Intelligence models suitable for cybersecurity measures in ICT infrastructure.
- Develop and test advanced natural language processing frameworks for managing generative Artificial Intelligence in cybersecurity.
- Create and implement new organizational and technical standards for GenAI-driven cybersecurity.
- Implement a prototype that enhances Chief Information Security Officer functions with the assistance of generative Artificial Intelligence.
- Experimentally test the prototype in real-world cyber incident scenarios and assess its impact on strengthening cyber resilience
This project is carried out by Institute of Social Sciences and Applied Informatics of Kaunas Faculty, Vilnius University (Lithuania).
Call title: Impact-driven programme "Information Technologies for the Development of Science and Knowledge Society"
Project budget: 259 222.72 Eur
Project implementation period: 01-10-2024–30-09-2026
Results
The GAISO project is expected to yield the following significant scientific results:
- An advanced security model driven by generative Artificial Intelligence. This model will enhance the cyber resilience of ICT infrastructure, transforming CISO's operations in threat detection and response, vulnerability management and security testing, and cybersecurity awareness.
- NLP frameworks in cybersecurity. These frameworks will enable more sophisticated interpretation and reaction mechanisms for GenAI within the cybersecurity system.
- Cybersecurity-focused prompting standards. New organizational and technical standards for integrating GenAI into cybersecurity practices. These standards will ensure consistent and reliable use of GenAI across various industries.
- Output verification protocols. These protocols will aim to verify the outputs of GenAI, ensuring their accuracy and reliability in cybersecurity applications. This will build trust in generative AI-driven security solutions.
