The Department of Philosophy and Cultural Studies that includes the Cultural Management study program pays constant attention to the quality of the study process and is in search for more diverse possibilities when it comes to students’ practice. Professor Virginija Jurėnienė and Associate Professor Aistė Urbonienė are sure that the cross-European opportunity provided by the Erasmus program is a perfect way to not only deepen one’s professional knowledge and acquire new skills, but also get acquainted with another country’s culture and broaden the outlook.

This autumn marks the 50^th anniversary for the only Vilnius University faculty in a different city, i.e. Kaunas Faculty of Humanities (VU KFH). The Faculty’s community who have cherished the Alma Mater traditions in Kaunas since 1964 will meet this anniversary in an unconventional way. The Faculty has received good news from Nordplus Higher Education and Nordplus Horizontal Programmes: two of the Faculty’s projects that include Vilnius University Kaunas Faculty of Humanities as both coordinator and partner have been approved funding for 2014-2016.

Dr. Raminta Pučėtaitė, Associate Professor at the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Studies, participated in the annual European Business Ethics Network Conference in Berlin “Business Ethics in a European Perspective – a Case for Unity in Diversity?” (June 12-14, 2014).

Today Kaunas city launches the 1^st international congress of contemporary humanities “International Congress on Numanities – IcoN”.

On May 16-17, the 8^th international scientific conference “Man in the Space of Language” took place at the Faculty; the conference is organised by the Department of Foreign Languages. The conference had over 60 participants from all over the world: United Arab Emirates, France, Turkey, Taiwan, Iran, Georgia, Russia, Belarus, Poland, Ukraine, Latvia and Lithuania.

On invitation by Professor at the University of Leicester (UK) Kirsten Malmkjær, Professor Dr. Loreta Ulvydienė (Department of Germanic Philology, VU Kaunas Faculty of Humanities) whose scientific interests involve intercultural communication and translation studies went on a 3-week internship to the United Kingdom.

On May 12-13, 2014, Vilnius University Kaunas Faculty of Humanities will be expecting a visit from Anna-Maija Lämsä, a professor at the School of Business and Economics, Jyväskylä University (Finland), to deliver seminars and consultations.
