Awards to the Best Students of VU

Geriausi VU KHF studentaiOn 30 June Vilnius University community gathered traditionally for "Finis Anni Academici” – the official closing ceremony of the 437th academic year 2015/2016 at St John’s church.

This year a great number of smart students were awarded with Cum Laude honours. Some members of the academic community were honoured for outstanding and leadership achievements. A special tribute was paid to the community members who passed away during the academic year.

Associate Professors S. Juzelėnienė and R. Baranauskienė to Represent Lithuania in European Scientific Research Network

Rita ir SauleAssociate professors of the Department of Lithuanian Philology in VU Kaunas Faculty, Dr. Saulė Juzelėnienė and Dr. Rita Baranauskienė are appointed to represent Lithuania in the managing committee of the International Researchers Cooperation programme COST activity IS1312 Structuring Discourse in Multilingual Europe. Members of the working group, Prof. Dr. Skirmantė Šarkauskienė and Assoc. Prof. Ilona Mickeinė have also been included into COST project implementation.

INTERNATIONAL BRAIN BATTLE – that‘s the key to a closer relationship between different nations.

brain battle vukhfIn the evening of the 4th May, Vilnius University, Kaunas Faculty held an INTERNATIONAL BRAIN BATTLE event. Its aim was not only to meet, but also to establish closer relations with students from different countries who came to study in Lithuania. During the brain battle, which was drafted in English language, eight different teams answered a variety of questions about Lithuania, countries of the world as well as logical tasks which third-year students of cultural management came up with.

Erasmus+: what’s so special about it?

erasmussvedija“Is it possible to describe my studies in Sweden via Erasmus+ programme in one short message? Definitely not! How to fit all the UNREAL and SUPER FANTASTIC months into one page?! Yet, I will try my very best to fulfill this assignment” , says Girvydas Kulakauskas a third year student of Audiovisual Translation, who has just come back from a semester long visit to Umea University (Sweden).

Highlights of the 12th Annual Conference on Sustainable Development

12 gronsko konferencijaThe very end of the year 2015 at the Faculty was marked by a traditional conference for PhD and Master students. The organizers of this international Prof. Dr. Vladas Gronskas Young Researchers scientific conference “Development in Economics: Theory and Practice” (12 December, 2015) aimed at contributing to a reliable, secure, effective and sustainable development of economy, economics and business, thus they created a medium for young scholars to discuss, search for best solutions and share their experiences. Not only did they have the opportunity to present reports but also to discuss the latest scientific trends, achievements and shortages as well as to get in contact with colleagues working in the same field.

Erasmus Internship as one of the best choices ever made

Laimute vukhfA 4th year student of Cultural Management, Laimutė Triukaitė, has spent her Autumn semester as an intern in “The Italian-Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce” in the city of Rome, Italy. The soon-to-be specialist of cultural management admits that leaving Lithuania for Erasmus+ internship meant for her major changes in the way she regards her life and professional career. “Now I realize that this choice I made last year was one of the best in my life. Being in Rome I had the exceptional opportunity to see how Italy takes care of its cultural system. Moreover, during my preparatory term, I had the opportunity to witness how various business events, meetings, conferences and luxurious international events are organized. Finally, it was so interesting to find out the exceptional aspects of the Italian work culture”, explains Laimutė.
